Earlier this year, I had the immense privilege of traveling to Peru for a volunteer medical mission with Operation Smile. For those unfamiliar, Operation Smile is an international children’s medical humanitarian charity dedicated to providing free, safe reconstructive surgery for children and young adults born with cleft lips, cleft palates and other facial deformities.

The opportunity arrose thanks to my gig at Sanuk Footwear, who's mantra has always been "Smile...pass it on". For our toe-tappin' team, that saying isn't just some slogan or cheesy catch phrase. Over time, those four words have truly evolved into a way thinking and consequently, a way of life.

For the last year and change, the Sanuk crew has had the honor of building an incredible partnership Operation Smile. As a result, our tightly knit team was invited to experience what it means to change a life firsthand.

In May... We traveled. We observed. We played. We shared. We documented. We witnessed. We laughed. We cried. We smiled. Now, a few months later, we've finished the film we shot on location which documents their awe-inspiring efforts. Sanuk's sincere hope in doing so is to share the experience with others and bring more awareness to the miracles they make possible...
